Why:
By keeping up with the trends and developments when it comes to website creation helps make your site look modern, work smoothly, and stay user-friendly. Using the current design preferences and ideas makes it easier to meet what people expect today.
How:
By doing research and looking at other portfolios, I got an idea of what to expect as well as how I personally wanted to design it. I also looked at the gestalt principles again to see if I could implement them somehow
What:
I first started looking at YouTube videos about how a portfolio should look like. When I got a general idea of what needed to be in it, I started researching how I should design my portfolio. I went through a lot of different portfolios and again watched YouTube videos about them (like this video) and realized that modern portfolios are fairly minimalistic, so I wanted to recreate that style. For my first draft of my design, I followed a template to get the same layout. After this I continued to design my portfolio on my own. During the creation of my portfolio, I tried to keep some gestalt principles in mind, especially the one regarding symmetry and asymmetry.
Reflection:
The research about the trends and developments for my portfolio was insightful and helped me learn a lot about the general design of them. However, for next time I think it would be better if I included more of my own personality into it and didn’t strictly follow the “minimalistic look”. I could’ve added some flare here and there while keeping a simple design.
