Why:
For the group project we had to do a user study related to our topic which was to create a recipe that contains cheap recipes for international students in Eindhoven. We did this to get a better idea of what our users’ needs and preferences are.
How:
We did this through conducting a survey as well as interviews. For the survey and interview we all came up with questions to put in them. One of the questions I came up with was “What cooking appliances do you use”. We then sent the survey out and waited for some responses, we got over 20. We also each conducted 2 interviews.
What:
After we got all our results, we discussed the answers we got and made a conclusion of our user study which included the needs of our users regarding a recipe website. For example: the common appliances they used, price estimations, time to prepare estimations, and many more.
Reflection:
The user study helped us gain a better understanding of what our users want to see on our website and what they didn’t. We also got some feedback on our survey, which was about the questions being too general and not specific enough. We remade the survey and sent it out again. Next time I would like to propose some design ideas to our users as well to see what the majority prefer.
